The Graphics Data Logs for Azure Virtual Desktop are now available in public preview! You can start configuring the diagnostics table in Azure Log Analytics to capture graphics data from your Azure Virtual Desktop connections. This table records information whenever end-to-end delays and dropped frames percentages drop below acceptable thresholds for Azure Virtual Desktop. It enables administrators to analyze various factors across servers, clients, and networks that may impact user experiences, such as slow performance or choppy displays.
Set up
To begin capturing graphics data, ensure that diagnostics are enabled for your Azure Virtual Desktop host pools and that you've chosen the Connection Graphics Data Logs Preview table. Follow these steps in the Azure Portal:
Navigate to your Azure Virtual Desktop Host Pools in the Azure Portal.
Choose the specific host pool where you want to configure network data, then go to "Diagnostic settings".
Click on "Edit setting" or "+add diagnostic setting" if no settings exist.
Select "allLogs" or specific categories you wish to collect.
Confirm that "Connection Graphics Data Logs Preview" is selected.
Choose a destination, such as a Log Analytics workspace for Azure Virtual Desktop Insights users.
Save your settings and repeat these steps for any other host pools as necessary.
Sample queries
You can execute these example Kusto queries using the Log Analytics query editor. Customize each query by substituting alias@domain, start_time, end_time, VmName, or HostPoolName with the specific information you intend to search for.
