Step 1. Choose a Microsoft 365 for business plan


Before starting a new subscription, carefully consider your chosen plan to ensure it meets your specific needs. If you're unsure which plan is best for your organization, the Microsoft 365 plan chooser can assist. This tool provides recommendations based on your answers to questions about your business size, industry, devices used, and desired features, IT support, and security.


You can consult with sales representatives for additional assistance in selecting the right plan. Visit the Plans and Pricing page and choose one of the contact support options listed on the side.

Step 2. Sign up for a free trial


When you're ready to sign up, visit the Plans and Pricing page to select the plan you want to try. Your paid subscription will begin after your one-month free trial ends and you'll automatically be charged the applicable fee.


You can cancel your free trial at any time to avoid future charges. To cancel, simply turn off recurring billing. You can continue using Microsoft 365 until the trial period ends. If recurring billing isn't turned off, your payment method will be automatically charged once the trial concludes.


You will need to provide the following information:


  • Country

  • Email and phone number

  • A username

  • Payment information




Step 3. Set up your new subscription


The steps to set up your new subscription will vary depending on the specific Microsoft 365 for business plan you selected.


To set up Microsoft 365 Business Basic and Standard, you will be required to perform the following steps with variations.


  1. Add a Domain: Use an existing domain or purchase a new one during sign-up.

  2. Add Users and Assign Licenses: Add users through the setup wizard or later in the admin center.

  3. Connect Your Domain: Update DNS records at your domain registrar.

  4. Set Up Services: Configure Outlook, Teams, OneDrive, and your website.


For Microsoft Business 365 Business Premium, you will also need to Configure Security Settings.



  1. Add Users and Assign Licenses: Use the admin center setup wizard.

  2. Install Microsoft 365: Install desktop apps on up to five devices per user.

  3. Set Up Mobile: Install and configure mobile apps.

  4. Store Files Online: Use OneDrive for file storage and sharing.

  5. Add a Custom Domain: Personalize emails with a custom domain.

  6. Set Up Outlook and OneDrive: Configure email and file storage.
